Prabhakar reflections

A few years back I was posted in Darbhanga where my elder sister lives.She is a permanent resident of that district.  So long I remained during my posting there she would come to me to tie Rakhi on every Raksha Bandhan. The photograph below reminds me of those moments. While tying Rakhi on my wrist she would utter the famous shloka that reads as follows: येन बद्धो बलि राजा दानवेन्द्रो महाबल:। तेनत्वाम प्रतिबद्धनामि रक्षे माचल माचल:।।  (यह बहुत ही सुन्दर एवं प्रसिद्ध श्लोक है. रक्षाबंधन के दिन राखी बांधे जाते समय इसे लोग उत्साहपूर्वक पढ़ते हैं. पूजादि समापन के पश्चात भी अपने यजमान को रक्षासूत्र बांधते समय पंडित जी इस श्लोक को पढ़ते हैं.) अर्थ इस प्रकार है-    हरिप्रिया लक्ष्मी ने अपने भाई महाबली दानवेन्द्र राजा बलि की कलाई को जिस सूत्र से बांधा था उसी सूत्र(रक्षा सूत्र) से आज मैं तुम्हें बांधती/बांधता हूॅं; संकटापन्न मार्गों, व्याधि तथा दुष्टादि खलमंडली से यह रक्षासूत्र तुम्हारी रक्षा करे.) *******************************************************       ...

***सरकार एवं विभाग का एक अत्यंत सराहनीय कदम*** ************************************************** प्रदेश की जनता को इसका समर्थन करना चाहिए. शिक्षा जगत का इससे भला होगा. लेकिन इतना ही पर्याप्त नहीं होगा. इस निरंकुश व्यवसाय को अच्छे से नियंत्रित करने की आवश्यकता है जिसमें इन्हें शिक्षा हित में बंद कर देना तक भी शामिल होना चाहिए.  अन्यथा गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा को हम अभिभावकों एवं शिक्षकों को इन्हीं नामाकूल कोचिंग संस्थानों के हवाले छोड़ आराम करना पसंद हो तो कोई क्या करे?  इनकी नजर गार्जियन के बटुए पर होती है. सरकारी स्कूलों में पढ़ाई न होते देख हालत यह है कि अब गरीब गुरबा तबका भी अपना पेट काटकर अपने बच्चों को इन्हीं कोचिंग में भेजने को मजबूर हैं. एक समय था जब सरकारी स्कूल हीं शिक्षण का मुख्य एवं महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र हुआ करता था जहां से बच्चे पढ़कर समाज के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में अपनी पहचान बनाते थे. भले ही तब ये विद्यालय छतविहीन थे, पर्याप्त वर्ग-कक्ष की कमी थी, शिक्षकों का वेतन कम था, अभिभावक आज-कल जितने शिक्षित भी नहीं थे तब भी शिक्षक पढ़ाते थे और छात्र इन्हीं साधनहीन विद्यालय में पढ...

These days my daughter has come to stay with me only to spend a part of her summer vacation with me. While preparing to go to the office I don't mind keeping my shirt over my pants, unlike most of my colleagues, senior or junior who do what is usually called undershirting or trouser tucking the shirt. She asked me: why don't you do like others? She told me further that somehow she has had the notion since her childhood that one who is an officer wears like keeping his shirt trouser tucked inter alia. Today I had the opportunity to offer Langot(Loincloth) and bow my head at the feet of the statue of Baba Maniram seated in the Shrine popularly known as "Baba Maniram Akhara".              Every year on the occasion of Ashadha Purnima better known as Guru Purnima the "Langot Mela"is organized with great fervor here at the Akhara to commemorate Baba Maniram. ****************************************************** Bridges collapsing and trains colliding have become a commonplace incident in the country.  To many it may be on account of large scale corruption in building of such infrastructure like bridges or ROB etc.or violation of protocol as regards running of trains on tracks.  In case of bridges and ROBs some hold these incidents occurring due to lapses on part of the agency which is awarded work to execute after tender finalization. During my childhood days I would not know that there happened a day specially assigned to or associated with one who is known as a "father". चलिए आज आपकी तश्तरी में अंग्रेजी के कुछ शब्दों को परोसता हूॅं. यदि आप भी मेरी तरह एक शब्द प्रेमी हैं तो इसे जान कर आपको अच्छा महसूस होगा.  जरूरी नहीं कि इन शब्दों का इस्तेमाल आप कहीं करें हीं लेकिन हर वो शख्स जिसे आदतन रोज कुछ न कुछ नये अल्फाज़ सीखना पसंद है वह इसे पढ़ना पसंद कर सकता है. इसे पढ़ कर उन्हें "फील गुड" जैसी फीलिंग आ सकती है. कुछ शब्द प्रेमी तो ऐसे भी होते हैं जो जब तक सीखे शब्दों को अपने लेखन या भाषण में इस्तेमाल नहीं करते तब तक उन्हें चैन नहीं पड़ता. हालाॅंकि words पर mastery हाॅंसिल करने के लिए ऐसा करना ठीक हीं है.  क‌ई शब्द तो इस्तेमाल की बाट हीं जोहते रह जाते हैं और डिक्शनरी में पड़े-पड़े सिर्फ उसकी शोभा बढ़ाने के काम आते हैं.खैर. ********************************************************* आइए कुछ ऐसे शब्दों पर नजर डालते हैं— १. एक शब्द है lucoptia. जानते हैं इसका अर्थ? यदि आपका आत्मविश्वास इस प्रकृति एवं कोटि का है कि उसका प्रदर्शन लोगों को आपके उद्दंडता का परिचायक लगे तो समझिए आप Lucoptia से पीड़ित हैं.  इसका वाक्य में प्रयोग देखा जा सकता है- I appreciate...

Homosexuality,though not ever unexisting, is looked down upon in our society. It was decriminalized only a few years ago. Those who support this practice have proved in the court that being homosexual is an urge just in the same way the urge is that of being hetero sexual. So by no means it is a queer behavior on part of one who practices homosexuality to satisfy one's sexual & emotional needs.
