Baba Maniram Akhada (BiharSharif)
Today I had the opportunity to offer Langot(Loincloth) and bow my head at the feet of the statue of Baba Maniram seated in the Shrine popularly known as "Baba Maniram Akhara".
Every year on the occasion of Ashadha Purnima better known as Guru Purnima the "Langot Mela"is organized with great fervor here at the Akhara to commemorate Baba Maniram.
On this auspicious day of Guru Purnima,as per the tradition, the mela starts with the offering of 'Langot'(Loincloth) to the statue of Baba by the District Magistrate, Nalanda wishing for peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the District.
DM Nalanda Shri Shashank Shubhankar on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima offered Langot to the Baba and did all the rituals associated with the occasion on behalf of the people of the District. He prayed for the wellbeing, peace, progress and development of the District and its people.
The mela continues for a week during which a great number of people come here to pay respect to Baba and in reverence offer Langot to his statue for getting their wishes fulfilled.

This seat of Baba Maniram is revered with great faith reposed in Him by the people of the District.
It is believed that the Soul of Baba gets pleased by offering Langot to Him and in turn his blessings convert wishes of the devotee into a reality.

I don't know what is on record with regard to Baba and his pious deeds but it is a common belief among the people of the district that Baba came to this place from Ayodhya only to settle here for good in the thirteenth century.
The statue of Baba in the shrine definitely suggests that Baba in his lifetime must have been a man of solid body housing an immense saintly character. He took keen interest in making youths build their character as well as body through wrestling.
Apart from that, the level of faith in the Baba Maniram even to the present day is so intense that on any auspicious occasion be it marriage or mundan or upnayan etc. people do come here for offering 'Langot' to the Baba and beseeching Him with folded hands to seek his blessings.
In view of the rising popularity, the place is in the need of being developed into a full fledged tourist destination.
