Power is our capacity to influence the behaviour of others. The bases of power are many. Some of these are mentioned as follows: Legal power- Rules and regulations providing power to the individual holding a position in the hierarchy. We obey our boss and superiors owing to this power exercised by them. We do not obey their commands if the same is not sanctioned by rules and regulations formed by a competent body. This explains why we need not obey the boss if his orders are of personal nature and character. Traditional Power- this power emanates from tradition. Why does a son comply with the command of his father can be explained on this base. Charismatic Power- it emanates from some sort of Charisma associated with an individual.
