****************************************************** Bridges collapsing and trains colliding have become a commonplace incident in the country.  To many it may be on account of large scale corruption in building of such infrastructure like bridges or ROB etc.or violation of protocol as regards running of trains on tracks.  In case of bridges and ROBs some hold these incidents occurring due to lapses on part of the agency which is awarded work to execute after tender finalization. While it is not untrue it's not the whole picture. During my childhood days I would not know that there happened a day specially assigned to or associated with one who is known as a "father". चलिए आज आपकी तश्तरी में अंग्रेजी के कुछ शब्दों को परोसता हूॅं. यदि आप भी मेरी तरह एक शब्द प्रेमी हैं तो इसे जान कर आपको अच्छा महसूस होगा.  जरूरी नहीं कि इन शब्दों का इस्तेमाल आप कहीं करें हीं लेकिन हर वो शख्स जिसे आदतन रोज कुछ न कुछ नये अल्फाज़ सीखना पसंद है वह इसे पढ़ना पसंद कर सकता है. इसे पढ़ कर उन्हें "फील गुड" जैसी फीलिंग आ सकती है. कुछ शब्द प्रेमी तो ऐसे भी होते हैं जो जब तक सीखे शब्दों को अपने लेखन या भाषण में इस्तेमाल नहीं करते तब तक उन्हें चैन नहीं पड़ता. हालाॅंकि words पर mastery हाॅंसिल करने के लिए ऐसा करना ठीक हीं है.  क‌ई शब्द तो इस्तेमाल की बाट हीं जोहते रह जाते हैं और डिक्शनरी में पड़े-पड़े सिर्फ उसकी शोभा बढ़ाने के काम आते हैं.खैर. ********************************************************* आइए कुछ ऐसे शब्दों पर नजर डालते हैं— १. एक शब्द है lucoptia. जानते हैं इसका अर्थ? यदि आपका आत्मविश्वास इस प्रकृति एवं कोटि का है कि उसका प्रदर्शन लोगों को आपके उद्दंडता का परिचायक लगे तो समझिए आप Lucoptia से पीड़ित हैं.  इसका वाक्य में प्रयोग देखा जा सकता है- I appreciate...

Homosexuality,though not ever unexisting, is looked down upon in our society. It was decriminalized only a few years ago. Those who support this practice have proved in the court that being homosexual is an urge just in the same way the urge is that of being hetero sexual. विभूति नारायणजी गांव में रहते थे. अपने जमाने में मेरिट से पढ़ाई कर वे सेकेंड डिवीजन से बीए भी पास किए थे; किन्तु चाह कर भी सरकारी नौकरी हासिल नहीं कर सके. एक दो जगह लिखित परीक्षा पास करने पर इंटरव्यू के लिए बुलावा भी आया. इंटरव्यू देने के बाद कमरे से बाहर चपरासी कह रहा था-अरे ई सब नाटक हो रहा है. सब सीट पर बहाली पहले से फिक्स है.  बात जो भी हो; नौकरी नहीं मिल पाने पर उनके पिताजी ने कहा- कहॉं नौकरी के चक्कर में भटक रहे हो. गाॅंव में हीं हमारे खेती-किसानी में हाथ बटाओ. तब से गांव में हीं रह कर खेती किसानी करने लगे. धीरे-धीरे उसी में रम गए और खुश रहने लगे.शादी तो पढ़ते हीं समय हो गई थी और जैसा कि स्वाभाविक है शादी के साल भर में हीं एक लड़का भी पैदा हो गया. विभूति बताते हैं कि उनके पिताजी ने हीं उसके लड़के का नाम सुफल नारायण रखा था. तब मां-बाप अपने बच्चे का नाम तक अपनी इच्छा से नहीं रख सकते थे.अब जमाना भले कुछ और हो गया हो.   सुफल बड़ा होता गया. कभी-कभी जब मन करता तो पूछ बैठते-बेटा ठीक से पढ़ रहे हो न? इसके आगे फिर कुछ नहीं पूछते.  अवकाश के क्षणों में जब पति, पत्नी और बे...

आज के दौर की सबसे अजीब बात ये है कि हमें अपनी भूल या ग़लती का अहसास होने के बावजूद हमारा अहंकार हमें माफी मांगने से रोक देता है. माफी मांगना हम अपनी तौहीन समझते हैं. नुकसान झेलना ज्यादा मुफीद मालूम पड़ता है. शायद पहले ऐसा नहीं होता था. हमें पता होना चाहिए कि दिल की गहराई से मांगी गई एक छोटी सी माफी हमें स्वयं को पहले की अपेक्षा न केवल ऊंचा उठा देती है बल्कि यह हमें जाने-अनजाने में हुई अपनी भूल या ग़लती से उत्पन्न प्रतिकूलता से रक्षा भी करती है.              क्षमा मांग कर हम अपने भीतर के अहंतत्व का परिष्कार करते हैं; सम्बन्धों को सहज बनाते हैं.              लेकिन इसका यह मतलब भी नहीं है कि हम गलती करते रहें और माफी मांगने की आदत को अपने स्वभाव में शामिल कर निकलते बनें.तब इसे apology driven strategy हीं कहा जाएगा. **************************************************                                             ...

It was a usual cellphonic conversation with my daughter who lives away from me in the course of her studies.  My daughter asked me. Papa! Which is more important? Tact or talent? I answered with least hesitation- Presentation is very important. A male student of class 12 fainted out of “nervousness” after realising that he would be taking the intermediate examination along with 50 girls in the same hall at the Brilliant School examination centre in the district of Nalanda. Whenever I go to my office in the morning, it is amusing and heartening as well to see roads flocked by dozens of youngsters with bags on their backs returning from somewhere I didn't know. I ask my driver- are they returning from school? Is it not the usual time to go there? Why are they returning from there?
