Man will be a man(!?)
A male student of class 12 fainted out of “nervousness” after realising that he would be taking the intermediate examination along with 50 girls in the same hall at the Brilliant School examination centre in the district of Nalanda.
This news has hit the national headlines.
Incidentally, I happen to be posted in this district. Here this incident remained the talk of the day. All mentioned it in their own ways to find some enjoyment out of it.

Having come to know about this incident,I am led back to my memory lane of the eighties of the last century when I was just a first year student of an engineering college of Bihar.
The incident that hit the headlines forced me to guess the state of being of a girl (her name is not necessary to mention) who was a single female student amongst the 300 boisterous boys of the college. The said girl studied with boys from entire branches of the first year as all the branches'classes for the first year used to be combined in view of the the syllabus being the same for the first year course of all the branches.
My facebook friends from the same college must have recognised her not only by her face but also by her talent, grit and gumption.
Her talent earned her top ranks throughout the course. Needless to say this was a matter of envy for most of us.
Not to speak of losing sense never did I find her nervous in the slightest measure by such male dominance of the time on any occasion that included taking examinations also.

I believe that the situation then remained more or less the same in all the places of learning and education in India in general and Bihar in particular where girls would go to be enrolled as students.
Their numbers must have been negligible amidst male students in any institute of the country.
Despite it being so there is no instance to the best of my knowledge that a girl student ever fainted upon finding herself surrounded by the boys just because of gender dominance.

Do I mean to suggest that girls/females in more ways than one can handle stress better than boys/males?
It is for psychologists to conclude.
Even then, out of pleasure or the urge to show superiority we are often found to repeat a saying-"Man will be a man."
Do you agree?
