This railway station is XYZ. I usually have to come to the platform of this railway station only to board my train for the place where my home happens to be.  Though many of my colleagues, senior or junior, use their own vehicles to reach their destination which is in the average range of 60 kilometers.  But my choice is slightly different from the rest for reasons best known to me. ******************************************************* According to my eye estimate I can say with confidence that whenever a train comes to this railway station the entire platform is filled with at least more than a thousand passengers.  To secure a seat in the train is highly difficult if not impossible. Many times I have completed my journey while standing inside train.           But to my surprise, whenever I have approached the ticket counter I have never found a single person at the ticket booking window. The JNU and the 14 th November. ******************************************************* I, along with my daughter, was in the JNU campus on the 14th of this month. The reason being my daughter had got a call from this university for pursuing her masters in economics there. Being aware of the fact that 14 th November was the birth anniversary of our first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru as also the name of this university is after him,I had expected that the university would be busy celebrating this occasion by organizing functions which fortunately I may also happen to witness in course of my visit there for the aforesaid purpose. It's a fact that with the very inception of formal schools, colleges and universities in compliance with the Macaulay system in our country we people have been trained to think that education is only that which is taught in these formal institutions. As we grow old we begin to feel that the  surrounding situations either facilitates us to move ahead or they act to militate against the  objective or goal of a person.  We may also note that these situations themselves do not remain static as they themselves keep on moving in a pattern, generally not known to us. It is our competence & providence that act together simultaneously to build a situation which,at a particular time, accelerates or retards the motion on the path of destiny.           As long as one is alive one can't escape this net of destiny;the warp and weft of which is competence & providence. ******************************************************* Our competence is determined by the knowledge we acquire,the skill we develop and the experience we gather. ***************************************************** आज अंतरराष्ट्रीय वृद्धजन दिवस (०१.१०.२०२२) है.  बुजुर्ग आज प्रायः "अपनों" से हीं "उपेक्षा" का दंश झेलने को अभिशप्त हैं.   उससे भी अधिक चिंता की बात अब ये हो चली है कि ये "उपेक्षा" अब तेजी से "क्रूरता"में बदल रही है.  ये "अपने" उनके कुछ ऐसे अपने हैं जिन्हें हम बेटा-बहू या बेटी-दामाद कहते हैं जिन्हें बनाने संवारने में उन्होंने क्या कुछ सही-गलत नहीं किया.  इन बुजुर्गों को सम्मान देना तो दूर इनसे सीधे मुंह बात इनका अपना हीं बेटा-बेटी नहीं करता;दूसरा भले ही करे.          क्या अनपढ़ क्या पढ़ा लिखा! इस मामले में सभी एक जैसे पाये जा रहे हैं. बल्कि पढ़ा-लिखा तो सूक्ष्म रूप से अपमानित करने में अनपढ़ से एक कदम आगे निकले दीख रहे हैं.           निश्चित रूप से वे भाग्यशाली हैं जो अपने घर में रहकर अपने बेटे-बहू से या उनके बच्चे से आदर-सम्मान एवं सेवा लाभ प्राप्त करते हैं. वरना अब तो पटना जैसे शहरों में भी क‌ई वृद्धाश्रम खुल गये हैं जहां ऐसे उपेक्षित बुजुर्ग अपना अंतकाल व्यती...

I already knew the meaning of the word "moonlight" which I suppose everyone knows. But knowing the meaning of this word can't help one to know the meaning of the term "moonlighting". Suppose your cell phone is snatched away by a street urchin or you are travelling in a train and your purse is stolen or your ear wear is lost in a crowded market or you forgot one of your luggage while catching a bus or train or getting into a metro in haste.  In the same way if an incident of theft occurs in a house, are the precious articles so stolen recovered?  If yes, how much and after what strenuous efforts,if any? अंगद-रावण संवाद गोस्वामी तुलसीदासजी रचित विश्वप्रसिद्ध ग्रंथ "रामचरितमानस" का एक महत्वपूर्ण अंश है.                    तुलसीदासजी ने इस प्रकरण को काफी बखानकर वर्णन किया है. उसी को मैंने भी कतिपय गद्य में वर्णन करने का प्रयत्न किया है.     गद्य हो या पद्य; दोनों का एक दूसरे में हू-ब-हू अनुवाद ऐसे उपक्रम को प्राणहीन बना देता है. इसलिए संवाद को सरस बनाने की खातिर अपनेतया मैंने कतिपय महत्वहीन हेरफेर कर दिया है; लेकिन बहुत नहीं. तथ्य मूल में वही है. हां!बाल्मीकि रामायण में यह संवाद उस तरह बिल्कुल नहीं है; न हीं वैसा रोचक हीं जैसा रामचरितमानस में.  **************************************************** गोस्वामीजी द्वारा रचित इस अंगद का रावण से संवाद को गद्याकार करने का उद्देश्य कुछ विशेष नहीं बल्कि इसी बहाने कुछ आनंद मिले;बस यही है. जिस प्रकार लक्ष्मण ने परशुराम को क्रोध दिला-दिला कर उन्हें जर्जर कर दिया कुछ इसी तरह अंगद ने रावण को न केवल अपने वाकचातुर्य से परास्त कर दिया बल्कि उससे क‌ई गुना उसे लज्जित भी कर दिया.    सच ...
