****************************************************** The following lines which I propose to write are not the product of my own thinking.  They are based on my reading an article published in a devotional magazine. The said article classified the people of any society into seven categories.                It is worth mentioning these categories for our better understanding. 25 years is a period that matters. I am saying this because yesterday;that is 25 years ago on the 26 th of August, all of the 40th batch of the Bihar Administrative Service were born after undergoing through parturition-pain like pangs of unemployment for most of us.  Keeping in view the importance of this eventful date of 25 th milestone in our service career our colleagues decided not to let this milestone go unnoticed for understable reasons. Sustainable Development. ****************************************************** A few days ago I got an opportunity to speak on the topic of sustainable development before the students of a management institute of repute. The said institute was celebrating a function on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.                 I am not from academics nor have I any specific expertise on sustainable development. Despite it being so, the opportunity I got was due to my friend who holds an administrative post in that institute. He,acting out of sheer love and affection, invited and expected me to participate in the function with the aforesaid assignment. In a bid to help me my daughter apprised me that there is plenty of materials on the internet as sustainable development is the most talked about proposition in the present global scenario. बिहारी कहलाना गाली नहीं गौरव है. *************************************************** आज सुबह में मन विचलित करनेवाली खबर पढ़ अंदर हीं अंदर खौल गया. *************************************************** कारण था इस हद तक पढ़ी-लिखी महिला जो दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय में एडवोकेट है,ने अपने "सुशिक्षित", "संस्कारी" एवं "सम्भ्रांत" होने का परिचय कुछ इस तरह दिया कि सुरक्षा गार्ड द्वारा अपार्टमेंट का गेट जरा सी देरी से खोलने पर न केवल उसे भद्दी-भद्दी गालियों से नवाजा बल्कि उसका कालर पकड़ उसे बेशर्मी से धक्का भी दिया.  लर्नेड एडवोकेट का नाम है-भाव्या राय. *************************************************** भाव्या राय यहीं नहीं रूकी. उन्होंने उस गार्ड को बतौर गाली "बिहारी" कह कर उन सभी को आहत एवं आक्रोशित किया है जिनका ताल्लुक बिहार से है. मैडम भाव्या राय! मैं नहीं जानता कि आप किस राज्य से हो किन्तु आपके राज्य को पूरे सम्मान देते हुए यह कहना चाहता हूं कि मैडम!आप क्या जानो बिहार और बिहारी क्या और कौन हैं?  किसी भी मामले में कोई भी बिहारी के सामने नहीं टिक सकता है. ...

एकता और एकजुटता; क्या दोनों एक ही शब्द हैं? क्या दोनों एक दूसरे के पर्याय हैं? यदि नहीं तो दोनों में क्या अंतर है?                                 मेरा ध्यान इन शब्दों पर नहीं जाता यदि इन दो शब्दों का उल्लेख प्रधानमंत्रीजी ने अपने स्वतंत्रता दिवस के भाषण में नहीं किया होता. *********************************************** तत्काल मैंने भी वही किया जो आमतौर पर लोग करते हैं अर्थात् इंटरनेट की मदद. लेकिन इस मामले में वह भी कुछ खास कारगर साबित नहीं हो सका. मतलब ऐसा कोई स्पष्ट अंतर वहां मुझे नहीं मिल सका जो मुझे संतुष्ट कर सके. यदि कुछ ऐसा था भी तो यही कह सकता कि मुझे ठीक से समझ में नहीं आया.  ऐसी स्थिति में व्यक्ति को स्वयं अपने हीं विवेक का सहारा लेना पड़ता है. इससे कम से कम ये होता है कि वह स्वयं को संतुष्ट कर सकता है भले ही दूसरे लोगों को वह समझ अपर्याप्त अथवा असम्बद्ध लगे तो यह कोई असामान्य बात नहीं है.  *********************************************** आज से पहले एकता शब्द के साथ प्रायः अखंडता शब...

तुलसी जयंती (श्रावण शुक्ल सप्तमी) **************************************************** आज श्रावण शुक्ल सप्तमी तिथि है. इसी तिथि को कलि काल के बाल्मीकि कहलाने वाले भक्तमाल के सुमेरू संत शिरोमणि कविकुल तिलक तुलसीदास जी का जन्म संवत १५५४ में हुआ था. आज प्रायः सभी इस तिथि को भूल चुके हैं. मुझे स्मरण होता है कि इस तिथि के आने के क‌ई दिन पूर्व से हीं मेरे जैसे सरकारी स्कूलों में पढ़नेवाले छात्रों को इस अवसर पर भाषण प्रतियोगिता या रामचरितमानस का पाठ- गायन अथवा मानस आधारित नाटक आदि खेलने की तैयारी विद्यालय के शिक्षक अति उत्साह से करवाते थे.  प्राइवेट या अंग्रेजी स्कूलों की बात तो छोड़ हीं दिया जाय अब मुझे नहीं लगता कि कोई सरकारी विद्यालय में भी ऐसे कार्यक्रम आयोजित होते होंगे. मुझे आज भी याद है कि कैसे मेरे एक सहपाठी ने तुलसी जयंती पर आयोजित भाषण प्रतियोगिता में फर्स्ट प्राइज जीता था जबकि तैयारी उसकी मैंने भी कोई कम नहीं कर रखी थी. लेकिन उसकी प्रस्तुति बेहतर थी. **************************************************** आज हम अपनी संस्कृति से जुड़ने-जोड़ने का दंभ तो जरूर करते हैं किंतु व्यवहार म...
