If Only....

     If only…...
If only my father was rich I too would have….
If only I had lived in a better place I would have…..
If only I had enough money…
If only my children had some sense of care or compassion for their parents….
If only I hadn't inherited such a bad temper from my father...
If only my subordinates were not so silly, lazy and without drive….
If only my boss wasn't a livid lunatic...
If only my husband wasn't a controlling idiot...
If only my wife was more understanding…..
If only my kids were not so rebellious….
If only we were not in such a declining industry…
If only other department didn't oppose my proposal
If only the government had allocated sufficient funds…
If only we had set out in time to reach the place….
If only… If only …...If only …….the wishes are endless.
******* ******* *********** *********** *********
We all;at some point of time or the other;in varying degrees, are affected by this "if only" syndrome.
All the sentences starting with "if only" end on a note of despondency or disappointment.
This wishful thinking is neither dreaming nor planning.Whereas dreaming with planning makes us feel energized; this "if only" approach leaves us lamenting or lacerating our inner self. We start seeing ourselves overpowered by the circumstances. This feeling impedes our forward thinking to improve our lot by the resources that we may have. We tend to seek the reasons for our failure or deprivation in the system without any drive from within to improve the self.
Everybody has some strength of particular or specific or special character no matter however small or non-entity that strength may be in the eyes of others. Our pious duty is to recognise strength to improve it incrementally but consistently.
So instead of thinking in terms of "if only" proceed silently or preferably non-noticeably yet consistently, but not vociferously or boisterously from where you are…. with what you have…..
There are many who didn't have what we happen to have by providence or prudence. Still they left an indelible mark by way of their deeds amidst militating situations thrown upon them. They instead of allowing themselves to be the victim of the circumstances explore themselves to reveal their true worth in more ways than one.

Remember the sapient sentences: I am the creative force of my life.अहं ब्रह्मास्मि.नोचेत् अंशोऽपि निःसंदेह:खलु.

Bid adieu to the year 2021 with gratitude notwithstanding pain and tribulations we withstood with COVID.
Let us keep ourselves waiting for the new year 2022 with new zeal, hope and determination.
