Prabhakar reflections

The body is defined as a "क्षेत्र" in the Bhagavad Gita. That which knows that "it's the body" (इदं शरीरं)is called the "क्षेत्रज्ञ" (that is the knower of the body) in the Bhagavad Gita.  The Gita says - इदं शरीरं कौन्तेयं क्षेत्रमित्यमविधियते। एतद्यो वेत्ति तं प्राहु: क्षेत्रज्ञ इति तद्विद:।। Without too much effort it becomes clear that "क्षेत्रज्ञ" has been used to refer to the soul popularly known as "आत्मा." Let's refer to a shloka that is in the 13 th chapter of this great text. Today image matters. It has become more important than who or what you actually are. A rogue or cruel or debauch or bungler or more so even a mafia has no need to worry if he has built an image that he is the one who has earned the reputation of being humble and benign. He poses himself to be someone who can relieve you from distress.  The point I want to emphasize is- one's real character is often far removed from the reputation that one enjoys.  It's the reputation or image, not the true character of a person, that determines your interest in him/her. That is why people employ a number of techniques to improve, build and construct their image. It has been very aptly observed by experienced ones that life has only 3 real teachers who teach evidently better than anyone else on this earth. These teachers are- 1.Hungry stomach. 2.Empty Pocket. 3.Broken Heart. **************************************************           Apart from the above real teachers I, on the Teacher's Day, bow my head in respect to all teachers who by profession or otherwise have taught me to follow that which is not only inspiring & emulating but has been also helpful in rectifying & reforming myself.                    Their teachings have brought me this far.                    But I know I have not come this far to remain this far.                   Let their teachings & blessings help me to move farther and farther with faith along that path of self-rectification. *********...

Very often by default we tend to interpret Dharma from the viewpoint of religion that we profess.  Dharma is far from it. If we make an attempt to understand Dharma we are led to the conclusion that it epitomises the righteous code of conduct which remains the same across all religions. It is useful to make a distinction between Dharma and its English translation Religion.                           Whereas Dharma seeks to emphasise the substantive aspect of one’s personality,religion is interested in focussing the formal part of it by delineating the methods of observing the precepts through various forms of worships. Dharma has nothing to do with worships and its paraphernalia. In fact these are the core concerns of religion.
